The love affair with British investors and the German property market is re-kindled for the first time since 2008

 

In the boom years from 2006 to mid-2008, UK investors were largely responsible for the enormous demand on Germany’s real estate market. That was followed by much-needed value adjustments in real property portfolios down to a sustainable level, and a shift in the euro/sterling exchange rate, which brought the willingness of UK investors to buy property in Germany to a virtual standstill. But now they’re back. That is the conclusion that a recent study conducted by Realogis – one of Germany’s leading real estate consulting companies – comes to. Looking for a Valentine’s Day present? Forget jewellery, research shows property is a better investment than gold.

Research by a UK-based independent property investment consultancy found that the property was considered a better investment than gold and shares for investors to invest their cash to make profit.

According to the Worldwide Property Group’s results from the latest confidence tracker survey, a massive 72 percent of capitalists considered real estate to be a good investment option. 
Gold was in second place at 16 percent while shares dropped in third place with just 11 percent of the respondents, the report showed.

Ifo Business Survey – January 2011

The Ifo Business Climate Index for German industry and trade rose further in January. The business climate has thus continued the positive development of the past year. The firms are just as satisfied with their current business as they were in December, and they have given more favourable assessments of their business prospects for the coming half year.
